Volunteering with the RSPCA
My life has gone from being a sweet loving and caring girl, where I would become upset if I hurt or killed an ant (because the ant’s parents would be so upset when their little baby ant didn’t come home); and crying in the old song “puff the magic dragon” because the little boy grows up and the “puff the magic dragon” no longer exists in his life. As a child I thought that mean “Puff” had died and emotionally I was distraught whenever that song was heard.
So as always, I was a sensitive child towards animals and life in general. Then as discussed in previous blogs, I went through trauma and heartache, and became an entirely different person; and now I’m back to allowing love and light into my heart and into my life, which I embrace. Not everyone can accept I am how I am; nor can some family members see how far I’ve grown and blossomed because they are blinded by their own issues. It’s not up to me to prove to anyone, how far I’ve come in my own journey or to chase people for approval. I am extremely happy with how I am. I’m far from perfect and I still have human emotions and sometimes I still get very, very cranky. However on a whole I’m so much better than I was. I’m becoming that ‘sweet’ person I once was when younger.
Due to having more love in my heart to give – I want to share it and give it away and now I have found a unique and very satisfying way to do this.
As from 18th April 2014 I volunteer with the Darwin RSPCA, giving beautiful Reiki energy to the animals in the shelter. Below are the photos of the beautiful animals I helped on the 18th.
I can give the Reiki in person or via distance, and I’ve chosen to do it by distance for the time being, which is as effective as if I were there in flesh (see previous blog on the effectiveness and power of distance Reiki: Blog on Distant Reiki ).
Animal Reiki helps with numerous things.
• When they are young or old: You can use Reiki on an animal of any age or situation.
• When they have been through a trauma: Animals can use loving energy after they’ve experienced any type of abuse, loss, or move, or if they seem to exhibit depression or other behavioural disorder. Even if you don’t know what the problem is, you can use Reiki to help.
• When they are ill: Reiki helps the healing process and works with any type of medical intervention.
The reason I have chosen to do distance Reiki is because the Reiki will stop when the animal has received enough or the animal doesn’t want any more.
Animals differ in their responsiveness to Reiki (when doing hands on) depending on their illness, personality, and how well they know you, and that’s why distance Reiki can be easier when dealing with animals – it stops automatically when the animals says ‘enough’.
• An animal may screech, fly, growl, hiss, or run away as a way of telling you it doesn’t want to be touched. In that case, you can use distant Reiki or beaming techniques.
• An animal may let you perform hands-on Reiki but then shift positions or look at you funny. Move your hands a few inches above the body and continue Reiki, if you feel that it’s still needed.
• An animal may tell you it wants Reiki by coming near you when you are giving Reiki to yourself or someone else.
• If you’re lucky, an animal will move itself so you can give Reiki exactly where it’s needed.
The beauty of Distant Reiki is this type of Reiki can be performed from anywhere, so you don’t need to be near the animal to do this. You can use this technique to treat any trauma an animal might have suffered in the past or to help the animal with any event in the future. I tend to use crystals to help with the RSPCA animals, because I don’t know all their history and so the crystals give extra healing in the treatment.
Please find below the photos of the crystal grids used to help in sending the beautiful healing energy. I am so thrilled to be doing this and that the Darwin RSPCA are so open and receptive to their animals receiving the Reiki treatment.
For those of you who have furry animals that you love more than life itself (as some animal lovers do) please know I offer Animal Treatments in my practice. The cost is $80 and the session will go for as long as the session goes for. There is no set time frame because of the above information. The animal will let me know when it’s had enough.
Here is a testimonial from one client regarding animal reiki for her darling dog who was suffering from cancer:
“Hi Tammy I think the reiki session on (bleep) went really well. He was a bit unsettled at the beginning but as it progressed he became more relaxed. Later on that night though he just wanted to be left alone which is unlike him. But the next morning he was full of life and extremely affectionate and was using his back leg as though there was nothing wrong with it. I would honestly say that he was on a high for about a week. Thanks again for giving him some relief from his cancer – you’re a god send. Xx Trace”
So, as you can see I’m very excited to be giving back to the community and helping out in a volunteer capacity, doing what I love, and that is Reiki and helping the animals. I am back to loving and giving as I did as a little girl. It’s such a marvellous feeling. Truly it is.
Thank you for reading. Some of the information above has come from Reiki for Dummies.
Love, light and harmony.
